He's an acomplished guitarist and singer but here's nothing more Tobias Atkins enjoys than to help other musicians lay tracks at his home in Curl Curl.
The up-and-coming music producer has helped more than 20 bands record music at his home studio and he's only 21.
The following interview is taken from Manly Daily, 22 October 2010.
"I have found that people come to me more for acertain style," he said.
"The niche I'm in at the moment is rock and heavy production. At the moment I'm recording a band caled Northlane -they are a really hyped-up metal band from the western suburbs."
As well as runing Altaria Studios from his home, Atkins is busy working towards opening a new workshop in Manly next year. He's studying Audio Engineering at JMC Academy and also works for his father, show business veteran David Atkins, who runs one of the country's biggest events companies.
"I have just come back from Melbourne, where I was working on the musical Hairspray," he said. "I was doing all the sound effects."
As well as trying to crack the music industry, Atkins is also hoping to revive the music scene on the Northern Beaches. He's already managed to attract a number of bands to the area to record with him including metal outfits Point Below Zero, Driftwood Theory and Maze.
"We are trying to promote the scene and record new bands" he said.
