Join us at our Brisbane Campus on Saturday May 9 for a celebration of all things JMC, with activations and presentations from some of the industry’s best. With a creative scene as unique (and rapidly growing) as South East Queensland’s, we’re excited to show you how JMC stays a step ahead of the curve. Here are our official must see events at Brisbane’s Creative Open Day…
Catch Creativity Happening in Real Time
Running from 9:45AM to 3PM, with two distinct sessions during the day, witness our Brisbane campus as it becomes a microcosm of the creative industries. Come early for a complimentary coffee and snack to fuel yourself for the adventure ahead!
You might start your day watching a live band being recorded in a professional studio, before wandering into a Foley session where sound effects for film are built from scratch. Around the corner, a Dolby Atmos listening session offers a glimpse into the future of immersive audio, while nearby, student work is already being pulled apart, refined, and reimagined.
There’s no single path through the day because, like your future creative career, we want you to have fun, experiment and define your own way forward! Open Day is about the journey and JMC is the destination.
Find Your Space (And Test It Out!)
Whether you’re drawn to performance, production, or something in between, at Open Day each JMC course area opens up its world:
Acting leans into instinct and collaboration, with an improvisation workshop and a live music theatre ensemble session unfolding across the day.
Animation and Game Design invites you to get hands-on with character art sessions, plus a student-led gaming arcade where you can actually play what our students have made!
Audio Engineering and Sound Production moves from live band recording sessions to detailed post-production, including Foley demonstrations and a Dolby Atmos audio lounge experience.
Film and Television Production brings the energy (as per usual!), with a live studio activation featuring a Glambot, camera demonstrations, and student short film screenings.
Music plays throughout JMC’s halls all day, from jam sessions in the auditorium to live performances spilling into the café space, plus beat-making workshops breaking down the process from scratch.
Entertainment Business Management shifts the focus behind the scenes, with artist management insights and student project showcases exploring how creative careers are actually built.
And for those looking ahead, Postgraduate Studies offers a quieter space to explore what comes next on your creative journey and how JMC might help you to take your practice further!
JMC’s Creative Open Days Are Far More Than A Tour…
Because at these Open Days nothing is paused for you.
No staged classes or silent studios. This is the real rhythm of JMC. Collaborative, slightly unpredictable, and always in progress!
You’ll meet lecturers who are still active in their industries, students who are mid-project, and spaces that are designed to be used, not just shown. It’s less about being told what you could do, and more about seeing what’s already happening in our creative community!
