Frequently Asked Questions
Congratulations! Your place at JMC Academy is conditionally secured. All you need to do now is focus on completing Year 12 and fulfil any folio or audition requirements for your course. Once you’ve done this, you’re in. So sit back, stay motivated, keep creating, and we look forward to seeing you at JMC in Trimester 1 next year!
Your portfolio is your opportunity to showcase your creativity and passion. It should include 5–10 pieces of work, which can be personal projects or school assignments, in any medium such as drawings, paintings, photography, design work, stories, or more. You can submit your portfolio digitally or in hard copy, whatever works best for you. The goal is to give us a clear sense of your skills, creativity, and enthusiasm for the course, so choose pieces that truly represent your strengths and style.
Students required to perform an audition will receive feedback on the day. In most cases, your audition can be scheduled alongside a course consultation. For regional or interstate applicants unable to attend in person, auditions can be arranged online, or you can submit a video performance.
Visit the course pages for more detailed info on audition requirements.
Eligible students get to access FEE-HELP to assist with paying their tuition fees at JMC Academy! You only apply once you have enrolled in one of our courses and have met the government’s eligibility requirements.
Once you’ve accepted your offer, we’ll help guide you through the application process!
Yes. You’ll need to submit your application through a Tertiary Admissions Centre (UAC, VTAC or QTAC), with applications typically opening from August.
You can do lots of things! The best thing you can do right now is start exploring your interests and building your skills. Focus on subjects you enjoy in school, and begin creating your own work, whether that’s music, films, writing, design, or performance.
You can also start putting together a portfolio of your work, attend workshops or events at JMC where possible, and stay curious about the creative industry.
The more you experiment and practice now, the more confident and prepared you’ll be when you start at JMC!text
If you couldn’t make it to Open Day, you can still explore JMC Academy. Simply reach out to our Student Admissions team here to book a personalised campus tour. You’ll get a chance to see our facilities up close and chat about our courses, pathways, and how to apply
No! An ATAR doesn’t tell us anything about your creative passion. All you need is to have completed Year 12 or hold a Certificate III. Some courses require an audition or a portfolio, so be sure to check the specific entry requirements for your chosen course.
You don’t need to study any specific subjects to apply to JMC. We recommend focusing on the subjects that you enjoy. This not only keeps you motivated but can also help if your course requires a portfolio or audition.
We’d love to connect with you! Reach out to your local Outreach Coordinator via this page to organise campus tours, workshops, or participation in expos. It’s a great way for your students to explore creative career pathways, get hands-on experience, and learn more about what JMC Academy has to offer.
