Melbourne Martinis Award Wrap Up 2017

The 9th Melbourne Martini Film Awards was successfully held this year on Thursday 2nd March 2017 at the ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) and made for a wonderful event. martinis17.jpg

Hosted by Fagyn Gwyther-McCuskey, along with actor Evan Lever, this year we continued to follow a new format only screening the winning films and also including one of our very own student bands The La La Lions, who kicked off the night and played all the way through. Between The La La Lions and the winning films, we witnessed a phenomenal night of entertainment.

“The standard of films was our most innovative program to date. The trimester system allowed for 16 separate trimester groups to submit an array of films over the last 18 months – including short film, web-series, short documentaries, music videos, television commercials and animations, so the field was more competitive than ever. We also had a greater number of sponsors and the largest contribution of sponsorship prizes than ever before. A big thank you to all our sponsors, presenters and judges. Also a big congratulations to all our Martini nominees and winners. You should all be proud!” – Peter George, Head of Film & TV Production JMC Academy Melbourne.

The night began with the announcement of the Best Mocktail winner Charlee Hawkes
(Director & Producer) and Andrew Hyde (Media Teacher) from Eltham College of Education with her film THE ANTI-SOCIAL NETWORK.
