After winning his heat, Michael joined 15 other finalists to play in this Grand Final where he finally won with an original composition entitled ‘Hey John’ and Brooks and Dunn’s ‘Play Something Country’.

Before commencing his second year of studies at JMC, Michael spent two weeks in January at the Tamworth College of Country Music, working and visiting with artists Travis Collins, Jim Haynes and Merylen Carter, Adam Harvey, Troy Cassar Daley and the Sunny Cowgirls. Michael says [of his time at the college], “I most enjoyed working with producer and former Ted Mulry Gang drummer, Herm Kovak who helped me work on one of my original compositions. I also enjoyed late nights jamming with the other students at the college.”
