Touring with Brothers 3

Music Performance graduate Jason Isaac will be touring Australia for 3 months with X Factor top 3 finalist band
Brothers 3.

Brothers 3 were recently signed by Warner Music, and one of the members Tayzin is also a current student of JMC Academy.

We caught up with Jason to see how he got this opportunity and his advice to current students.

Tell us about what you've been up to since graduating?

Since finishing my music performance degree at JMC Academy I've been booked solidly for drumming and DJ gigs for a variety of events which include weddings and nightlife events at venues such as the Rock Lily. During the day I teach music at my private tutoring academy. The great thing is that I am proactive and constantly seeking new opportunities in the industry.

How did you get this gig drumming with Brothers 3?

Brothers 3 heard about me through some recommendations on the scene and after dropping by to see one of my shows we instantly connected and they contacted me to book me.

What are you most excited about?

I'm really excited about traveling around Australia with Brothers 3 and entertaining many people in each city. That sense of achievement and love that comes from inside us and from the fans really makes everything worth it.

How do you think JMC Academy has helped prepare you for the industry?

JMC Academy introduced me to the technical aspects of the industry as well as time management and how to use a professional approach when dealing with the Australian Music Industry. Things such as communication skills, questioning and getting clarity with clients, managers, booking agents and organisers is crucial when looking to get work. I also found my appreciation and open mindedness to music developed throughout the course. I found a new love for different styles of music i did not know existed.

What advice would you give to current students?

Open your ears and eyes!! Listen very carefully, take everything on board and ask questions if you're unsure about anything!! Don't be cocky or egotistic because there is always something new to learn and there is always someone out there better than you who is willing to take your place!! Make sure you learn the craft you're given by teachers and revise everything!! The teachers at JMC are amazingly talented and educated, don't take that for granted!! Finally, have a goal no matter how high, aim for it and fight for it!!
