On the 18th of March, staff and students from five creative industry schools came together to shoot JMC Academy’s first ever Cinema commercial for Val Morgan, entitled ‘Follow it’.
Five schools - four tertiary and one secondary/extra-curricular including the award-winning Creative Industries tertiary college - JMC Academy, Actors College of Theatre and Television, International Film School Sydney, The Drama Studio (Illawarra Performing Arts Centre), and the Australasian College of Hair Design and Beauty worked collaboratively on the project.
A cast of 90 plus members along with an 18 strong crew and ute named ‘Jonno’ took to the rolling hills of Kiama’s Spring Creek Retreat. The cohort of creatives included graduates, lecturers and students who fulfilled the roles of filmmaker, cinematographers, make-up artists, scriptwriters, lead actors and extras. Additional colour and vibrancy was added with career Cosplayers representing this nation’s growing fixation with the world of manga, anime, comic books, video games, and films.
DOP, and IFSS graduate Kim Ramsay said “We wanted to make something bold, colourful and loud and hopefully it will grab people's attention.” The advertisement features six "creative tribes", each colour representing a different course at JMC Academy. Head of Marketing, Karen Markakis adds “the message behind the commercial is relatable to so many creatives who are facing the crossroads of study and career decisions.”
JMC Academy is a leading creative industries institution, offering degrees and diplomas in music, audio engineering, film and television production, entertainment business management, 3D animation and game design.
The commercial will air nationally through Val Morgan from April 17 in Hoyts and Event cinemas. Coming soon to a theatre near you!
