Australian Filmmakers rejoice over $140 Million Incentive

Australian Film Makers rejoice! Hollywood studios have been given a $140 million incentive to choose Australia as their film location.

“The $140 million Location Incentive will be delivered over four years from 2019-20 and will bring in over $260 million in new foreign investment to the local economy. These productions will create more than 3000 jobs for Australian cast and crew, and support the services of around 6,000 Australian businesses each year.”

Australia has a strong reputation in the film industry, and with our film graduates working on such incredible productions and projects, we’re not surprised!

The announcement came from Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, who argued that "We have a highly skilled workforce that can compete with the best in the world, but in order for us to remain competitive, we needed this additional incentive, and I'm delighted that this will mean more jobs," she said at the announcement on the Gold Coast.

She went on to confirm how "This represents a positive policy change ensuring that Australia continues to attract high quality, large budget feature films which will grow our talent and creative industries. It will also promote Australia as a dynamic, innovative economy and tourist destination,".

This injection of money into the industry will see large budget international productions looking to film in Australia, and we can’t wait!
