For the second episode of the JMC Alumni in Focus series, we visited Audio Alumni and music producer Peter Holz in his Sydney studio for a chat.
The second we walked into Peat’s studio, we could feel the creative vibes oozing from the walls. After giving us the tour, we sat down to chat with Peat about how he went from studying at JMC, to working with some of Australia’s biggest acts including Gang of Youths, Vance Joy and Peking Duk. The part-time Sony in-house producer and ARIA Nominee also offers some advice on hard work, how to channel the talent of the artist when recording, taking lessons from other people and so much more.
The interview was followed by a casual mixing desk and analog demo, some impromptu production and listening to Peat seamlessly warping the sounds of a keyboard and guitar to noises we didn’t even know existed!
Peat is an amazing producer and we have been so excited to get this one out to you! You can catch his latest work on Peking Duk and Jack River’s new track ‘Sugar’ that was released yesterday!
Enjoy the full video below! (If you listen closely to the background music you’ll hear one of Peat’s original tracks).
