We’re throwing the gates open to all current JMC students across our campuses in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane who are interested in gaining some hands-on industry experience working as a part of the Laneway Festival team!
ROLES AVAILABLE
From festival comms through to stage production and SFX design, we have roles to suit every area of creative interest and we’re determined to find the perfect student for each individual placement. We’d call it an internship, but really it feels so much more valuable than that. There will be NO coffee run duties here, only getting down to the nitty gritty of running a festival!
Work closely with the artist relations team to ensure smooth coordination and exceptional service delivery for performing artists and their teams. You'll gain insight into artist management, hospitality coordination, and the logistical complexities of managing multiple acts across festival stages, while developing valuable industry networking opportunities.
May include activities such as:
- Assisting with packing of artist riders
- Assisting with all artist Back of House (BOH) requirements
- Assist with any ad-hoc event management requirements from an Artist Liaison perspective
Desirable skills:
- Customer relations/community engagement

- Implementation of event documents

Shift expectations:
- One (1) bump-in days prior to the festival
- Festival Day
- One (1) bump-out day following the festival
This role would best suit an Entertainment Business Management Student
Work with the partnerships team to bring sponsor activations and brand experiences to life throughout the festival grounds. You'll have an opportunity to support the creation and execution of interactive brand installations, promotional activities, and customer engagement initiatives that enhance the overall festival experience while delivering value to commercial partners.

This role would best suit an Entertainment Business Management student.
Support the video production team in capturing professional footage of festival performances, behind-the-scenes content, and promotional material. Opportunities may include working with industry-standard cameras and equipment, you'll gain practical experience in live event videography, multi-camera coordination, and content production in a challenging outdoor festival environment.
May include activities such as:
- Assisting in the capture of Laneway performances for streaming on stage.
- Working in the tent and assisting the camera operations team. Note: Not a roaming cam.

Shift expectations:
All dates and scope of work will be completed at JMC under the supervision of JMC Academic staff. The Placement is expected to include:
- Pre-Event Preparation: Attendance at two virtual planning meetings with the JMC-appointed team is required.
- Project Work: Additional hours may be required to develop and deliver visual assets as assigned.
- On-Site Duties: Participation may be required on the Festival Day.
This role would best suit a Animation/Design (Visual Communication) student.
Support the audio engineering team in delivering high-quality sound production across multiple festival stages. Working alongside experienced sound engineers and stage crew, you may work with professional audio equipment, stage setup procedures, and live sound management in a fast-paced festival environment. This role provides insight into the technical backbone of live music events.

- Assisting the live sound and audio stage teams at Laneway Festival.

This role would best suit an Audio Engineering/Music Production student.
Support the festival's digital marketing team in capturing, creating, and distributing content across social media platforms and digital channels. You'll work in a dynamic environment documenting the festival experience, from behind-the-scenes setup to live performance moments, helping to build the festival's online presence and audience engagement.
May include activities such as:
- Supporting to deliver Laneway partner marketing benefits by capturing brand activation content on ground.
- Assist with briefing photographers and select your favourite captured content – which may make its way to Laneway social channels.
