Battle of the Bands 2026
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Eligibility
This competition is open to Year 9 to 12 students currently enrolled in high school (or enrolled in distance education / home-schooling) in Queensland. Entrants must be able to provide proof of current high school enrolment if requested. Age and other eligibility requirements as stated in the competition promotional material also apply. Bands can consist of students from different schools. Solo artists and duo artists can also enter. Entries are limited to one per person (i.e. an individual can only enter once).
2. Entry Requirements
Entrants must submit all requested information (including but not limited to: band details, genre, influences, and supporting links to original music and/or live performance videos) by the stated closing date. Incomplete and late entries may not be considered. Entrants must ensure that they have all necessary rights, permissions and licences for any music, recordings, images, videos or other material submitted as part of their entry.
3. Selection Process
The competition may involve multiple stages, including but not limited to a pre-selection round and a live event, as part of determining finalists and the eventual winner. JMC and The Tivoli Group reserve the right to determine the format and structure of these stages at their discretion.
4. Judging and Final Decisions
All decisions relating to competition outcomes, including selection of the winner and any support act opportunity, will be made by JMC and The Tivoli Group. All decisions are final, and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
5. Prize
The winning prize (support act performance opportunity) is subject to availability, scheduling, and venue requirements as determined by JMC and The Tivoli Group. Prize details, including timing and venue, may be adjusted at the organisers' discretion.
6. Timeframes
All dates published for this competition (including application, selection, event, and prize periods) are indicative only. JMC reserves the right to amend, extend, or otherwise adjust any timeframes associated with this event at its sole discretion.
7. Media Consent
By entering this competition, entrants (and, where the entrant is a minor, their parent or guardian) consent to JMC and The Tivoli Group photographing, filming, and recording entrants during any stage of the competition, including auditions, rehearsals, and live performances. Entrants grant JMC and The Tivoli Group the right to use, reproduce, and publish this footage and any associated images, names, or band details across promotional and marketing material, in any format or medium (including print, digital, social media, and broadcast), without payment or further consent, for promotional, marketing and archival purposes.
8. Minors and Parental/Guardian Consent
As entrants are expected to be high school students, many will be under the age of 18. Where an entrant is under 18 and progresses to the final stage of the competition, JMC and The Tivoli Group may request that a parent or guardian confirm agreement to these Terms and Conditions on the entrant's behalf, including the Media Consent clause above. JMC and The Tivoli Group may also request written parental or guardian consent, and proof of age, at any stage of the competition, including for participation in rehearsals, the live event, and the support act performance opportunity.
9. Work Experience Opportunities
Any work experience placements offered in connection with this event are limited in number and subject to separate selection based on submitted expressions of interest (EOI). Submission of an EOI does not guarantee a placement.
10. General
By entering this competition, entrants agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions. JMC reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time, disqualify entries that do not meet the eligibility or entry requirements, and make final decisions on any matter not expressly covered here. JMC reserves the right to cancel, postpone, relocate or modify the competition or any stage of the competition where reasonably necessary, including due to circumstances beyond its control.
