Once home to iconic RCA Records, the LA Film school compound has housed studios for some of music’s elite, including Elvis Presley and The Rolling Stones. Spend two weeks immersed in entertainment business lectures, private studio backlot tours, theme-park visits and much more. This project-based experience will replace one-for-one credits in related units of study.

Bachelor Degree students from JMC Academy's Audio, Music, Songwriting, Film and Entertainment Business Management programs may apply to enrol in a Study Tour unit that includes a 2-week study tour to Los Angeles.

Students spend one week auditing classes at the Los Angeles Film School (courses include Film, Recording Arts, Music Production, Entertainment Business, Animation and Game Design), with the second week spent visiting major Hollywood studios and sites. This is an incredible opportunity to network with LAFS students. During the tour, students begin a collaborative project that will be completed upon return to Australia.

Bachelor Degree students enrolled in JMC Academy's Animation, Game Design and Digital Design programs have the amazing opportunity to enrol in a two week study tour in Tokyo and Osaka.

Students will participate in Anime and Manga Creation classes at the Tokyo Design Technology Centre and Osaka Animation College. Students will then continue with a 12-week special project on campus in Australia, which is based on a single project topic of the student’s choice that is then developed over the length of the course.

In 2017, Music and Songwriting Students had the get the opportunity to travel to London on an all-expenses paid, once in a lifetime music exchange hosted by Nando's.

As the only institute in Australia to be invited, JMC students were given the opportunity to go to London’s Roundhouse to collaborate with students from England and South Africa, working with other musicians and professionals to write, record and perform original work. We look forward to the invitation again in 2018.

Student Emanuel Yoong Zhuang described how “The process of co-writing with musicians from South Africa and London was interesting to learn how music is being expressed from a different perspective in terms of cultures and background influences. I am overwhelmed with Hip Hop culture in London and this was my first time writing rap lyrics for a song. The network, knowledge and experience I gained from this trip allows me to have ability to produce any songs and reach out to a global network of international audiences.”

As a partner of the Berklee College of Music, JMC Music students get the opportunity to attend the Haarlem Conservatory, just outside Amsterdam.

The international Writers Camp invites 15 schools from around the world, to take part in writing, recording, and producing songs. Students collaborate alongside eachother, to work with prominent music publishers and labels, including BMG/Talpa, Warner Chappell, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, CTM Publishing, and Armada Music.
