Hey JMC Game Design students and alumni! If you’ve ever dreamt of showcasing your game to thousands of players, developers, and industry heavyweights — this is your chance.
We're thrilled to announce the return of our Student Game Showcase at PAX Aus 2025! This is an opportunity for JMC Game Design students and alumni to present their creation on a massive stage, rub shoulders with industry leaders, and see firsthand how their work resonates with a live audience.
It’s more than a gaming convention. It’s a launchpad.
What is PAX Aus?
Held annually in Melbourne, PAX Aus is Australia’s biggest celebration of gaming culture. The three-day event (happening from October 10-12!) unites indie developers, AAA studios, streamers, writers, designers, players, and fans from across the globe. It’s electric, it’s creative, and it’s a golden opportunity for emerging talent to step into the spotlight.
This event hits every high score for inspiration. And for a lucky few JMC students (or perhaps just one!) — a first real taste of industry exposure.
Why should you showcase?
- Test your game with a live audience — get instant feedback and see how people engage with your work
- Connect with the industry — build your network with fellow devs, studios, streamers, and recruiters
- Develop your pitch — learn how to talk about your work in a way that’s clear, exciting, and professional
- Stand out as a creator — this is the kind of real-world experience that gives your portfolio an edge
JMC’s booth at PAX isn’t just a spot on the floor. It’s a curated showcase of student innovation. From quirky indie mechanics to jaw-dropping worldbuilding and everything in between. You’ll be supported every step of the way by our Game Design lecturers, who’ll help you polish, prep, and present like a pro.
And best of all? You’ll be side by side with the games, creators, and studios shaping the future of the industry as an equal.
In recent years, JMC students have debuted everything from RTS to FPS on the PAX floor. From ‘Paraglock’ last year to ‘Grove Keeper’ in 2023, JMC students have blown audiences away with genre-bending games and creative mechanics. Some even walked away with job offers and long-term collaborators! This year, that could be you.
Who can apply?
Entries are open to individual JMC students or alumni, or teams where at least 50% of members are JMC students or alumni. Whether you're just getting started or putting the finishing touches on your capstone, if you’re ready to show the world what you’ve been building, we want to hear from you.
To enter, submit an MVP detailing the core of your game and have a full Alpha build ready for PAX Aus in October!
This is your invitation to level up and take your first step into the industry — at PAX Aus 2025!
