Join the Former Director of National Promotions at SONY Music Australia - Rowan Thiedeman - for an eye-opening Masterclass you will not want to miss!

Over a 15 year career working in Promotions at record labels in Australia, Rowan has seen life on both sides... Life at an Indie (Shock Records 2006-2011) and life at a major record label (Sony Music 2011-2020). As a JMC Alumni, Rowan is the perfect example of an Entertainment Business graduates success story.

Demonstrating a passion for music, helping curate artist’s story and harnessing his ability to build genuine and honest relationships with colleagues and media partners, Rowan moved from working the mail room to becoming the Regional Radio plugger at Shock. After 5 years of increasing responsibilities within the company, Rowan became the National Promotions Manager - running promotion campaigns for bands such as British India, The Prodigy, Bloc Party, Phoenix and Bring Me The Horizon.

In 2011, Rowan joined global music heavyweight, Sony Music, spending nearly a decade holding several senior roles within the promotions team based in Melbourne - culminating in 2018 when he was appointed to Director, National Promotions (2018-2020) and relocated to Sony Music HQ in Sydney.

During this Masterclass, Rowan begin with an overview of his career path, the definition of promotion in the context of the music industry and how his team fits into their overall structure. Learn about how promotion plans fit into the overall mix for Aussie and International Artists, why promotions is super important in this new age of music and what's next for the industry. Stick around for a Q+A moderated by our Entertainment Business Management Melbourne Coordinator Amy Wright.
