Find your voice and unlock your creativity in this group songwriting session. Students will explore the fundamentals of lyric writing, melody creation, and arranging songs.

Highlights:

  • Song Structure: Learn how songs are built, from verse to chorus.
  • Lyric Writing: Write words that connect with meaning and emotion.
  • Melody Crafting: Experiment with melody and rhythm.

 Ideal for students who love music, poetry, or performance. No instrument or theory knowledge required, just bring your ideas and passion for songwriting.

Year 12 students who attend this workshop will have their audition requirement waived for entry into JMC’s Music courses.

Feel the thrill of live music in this high-energy ensemble workshop. Students will rehearse and perform together in a band-style setting, exploring the power of improvisation and collaboration.

  • Playing in a Group: Learn to listen and respond as a musician.
  • Musical Arrangement: Experiment with dynamics, structure, and style.
  • Improvisation Skills: Try your hand at solos, fills, and spontaneous moments.
  • Live Performance Prep: Understand stagecraft and communication.
  • Creative Expression: Make music together in a relaxed, fun environment.

This workshop welcomes instrumentalists and vocalists from any background. Bring your instrument if you have one, amps, mics, and drums provided.

1:30pm - 4:30pm 

Step into the producer’s seat and learn how to make your own music from scratch. This workshop teaches students how to use digital audio workstations (DAWs) to create, record, and mix a basic demo. Highlights:

  • Intro to DAWs: Get familiar with programs like Ableton and Logic Pro.
  • Beat Making: Learn to build rhythms, chords, and hooks.
  • Editing Techniques: Refine your audio with basic tools and plugins.
  • Song Structure: Arrange your demo from intro to outro.
  • Creative Process: Explore how ideas become tracks.

Perfect for music lovers and aspiring producers, no gear or software knowledge needed.

Year 12 students who attend this workshop will have their audition requirement waived for entry into JMC’s Music courses.

While this workshop is directed towards Years 11-12, Year 10 students are warmly encouraged to join the waitlist and will be offered a spot if one becomes available.
