Maintaining Your Eligibility To Receive FEE-HELP

Due to recent changes in the legislation, if you are not progressing satisfactorily, you may lose access to FEE-HELP.

The new FEE-HELP rules are distinct from JMC Academy's own "satisfactory" progression rules. According to the amended legislation*:

As a Bachelor student, you may lose access to FEE-HELP when you fail more than 50 per cent of all the units that make up your Bachelor. We start measuring your FEE-HELP eligibility when you have attempted at least eight (8) units and continue to monitor until you have met all requirements for the Bachelor. As soon as you fail more than 50 per cent of your Bachelor units, your eligibility for FEE-HELP is in doubt.

Please note, JMC is required to commence measuring progression of Bachelor students from Trimester 2, 2018 so your academic record prior to this point is not considered in this calculation.

As a Diploma student, you may lose access to FEE-HELP when you fail more than 50 per cent of all the units that make up your Diploma. We start measuring your FEE-HELP eligibility when you have attempted at least four (4) units in your Diploma, and continue to monitor until you have met all requirements for the Diploma. As soon as you fail more than 50 per cent of your Diploma units, your eligibility for FEE-HELP is in doubt.

To maintain eligibility if your eligibility is in doubt

To be eligible to keep accessing FEE-HELP you will have to successfully apply for "Special Consideration". An application for "Special Consideration" can only apply if you are able to provide sufficient, authentic evidence that there were matters outside of your control that genuinely impacted (impact after CENSUS DATE) on your ability to dedicate yourself to your studies so that you were able to pass the units.

If JMC Academy is satisfied that you were adversely affected by matters outside of your control, then your eligibility to access FEE-HELP can remain.

If JMC Academy is NOT satisfied that you were adversely affected by matters outside of your control, then you can continue studying at JMC, but you will be required to pay tuition fees for your units up-front. If you are in this situation, then the Campus Manager will discuss your options, and when/if you can get your FEE-HELP access reinstated.​

Every student's situation will be different, and all your questions about this can be answered by your Campus Director, and/or your Head of Department.
