Our annual Martini Awards is a red-carpet event and platform for students and alumni from Film & TV to get their work on the big screen. This showcase is judged by leaders in our industry, with categories from short film to music videos (and everything in between). Develop your creative and technical skills in a real-world production environment. Specialise in directing, cinematography, producing, or post-production, and graduate with a festival-ready showreel.

Diploma of Film & Television

A fast-tracked, hands-on introduction to the screen industry. Learn the fundamentals of directing, editing, screenwriting and cinematography — and crew on real productions from your first trimester.

Steph Power

Acting & Directing Lecturer

Steph Power is a WAAPA trained actor and director, acting psych coach and filmmaker with over 30 years industry experience in front of and behind the camera.

Steph has shaped or directed the most complex content for TV, Film and stage productions. Some of her credits are 5 Bedrooms for Paramount+, Itch for ABC, Population 11 for Stan, films such as My Eyes, Girl at the Window, Petrol and stage shows for MTC, FTC, La Mama, St Martin's, as well as teaching programs for The National Theatre, WAAPA, JMC, Opera Australia, Curtin University, 16th Street and WIFT Australia.

Joe Betrous

Film & Television Lecturer

Joe is a Writer/Director who's work has featured at festivals across Australia and the US

including the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, American Animation & Documentary Film Festival, Capricorn Film Festival, and North Bellarine Film Festival.

Peter George

As a Producer, Director, Writer, Interviewer and Script Editor, Peter brings a resume of credit and awards to JMC Academy.

As a filmmaker, major credits include the award winning documentaries Original Schtick, Schtick Happens, The Dream of Love, Not So Straight and The Triangle Wars, and fiction films Absence, Silent Night and William. Original Schtick won 2 AFI awards and the prestigious Rouben Mamoulian Award at the Sydney Film Festival, and Silent Night took home two awards, including Third Place Tropfest 2026.

Lexee's story

JMC Academy Film Graduate

Since graduating from JMC Academy Lexee has directed and produced four films and won awards for two of them in Venice, Paris and New York.
