JMC Academy Diploma of Stage Management Scholarship for JMC Alumni – Terms & Conditions
1. Background
1. A Scholarship Benefit equal to 20% of the published tuition fees for eligible units undertaken in the approved course, applied to the recipient’s student account in accordance with these Terms (the Scholarship Benefit)
3. Valid for the standard duration of the Diploma of Stage Management as specified in the Letter of Offer, subject to continued eligibility and continued enrolment in the approved course in accordance with these Terms.
2. Eligibility
The Scholarship is available to applicants who:
4. JMC Academy will offer the Scholarship to study the Diploma of Stage Management to domestic students who have successfully completed a JMC Academy diploma, bachelor degree, or postgraduate qualification prior to commencing the Diploma of Stage Management.
5. Eligibility for the Scholarship will be assessed automatically at the time of application/offer based on verified completion of a prior JMC Academy award and meeting standard course admission requirements.
6. The Scholarship is available for new commencing students into the Diploma of Stage Management only and is not available to current students in that course.
7. The Scholarship offer is valid only for the Diploma of Stage Management specified in the Letter of Offer and cannot be transferred to another course, unless approved by JMC in writing.
8. A person who already receives another JMC Academy scholarship, discount or fee waiver for the same course and teaching period will not be eligible to also receive this Scholarship; where multiple offers exist, only one scholarship or discount may be applied (unless JMC approves otherwise in writing)
3. Commencement, enrolment and deferral
9. The recipient is required to begin their studies in the intake for which the Scholarship is awarded and must remain enrolled throughout the specified duration in accordance with enrolment requirements; the Scholarship cannot be deferred to a future intake except where approved by the Chief Customer and Student Officer and/or Executive Dean.
10. The Scholarship applies to approved load in the Diploma of Stage Management only and is calculated on the tuition fees payable for each teaching period in which the student is enrolled.
11. If JMC Academy approves a leave of absence due to exceptional circumstances, the recipient may request to defer their enrolment in the course for up to one year without losing the Scholarship, provided they meet specified conditions to the leave and remain eligible to resume study under JMC Academy policies.
12. If a recipient transfers to another course, changes campus or mode of study, or significantly changes their study pattern, JMC Academy may review the Scholarship and may vary, suspend or cancel it where the scholarship criteria are no longer met, with written notice and an effective date recorded.
4. Scholarship value, payment and fees
13. JMC Academy will apply the Scholarship Benefit (20%) to the recipient’s student account for each teaching period, prior to the relevant census date, for eligible units in which the recipient remains enrolled at the census date, reducing the net tuition fee payable for those units by the Scholarship value. The Scholarship Benefit does not change the published tuition fee; it is applied as a credit to the student account.
14. The recipient is responsible for paying the balance of tuition fees (after the Scholarship Benefit) by the relevant census date for each teaching period, in line with JMC Academy’s Fees and Refunds Policy and the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (HESA) requirements where applicable.
15. Where a domestic student uses FEE-HELP for any part of their fees, they must complete all required Commonwealth assistance forms and satisfy all HESA eligibility requirements by the relevant deadlines. The Scholarship Benefit reduces the net tuition amount on which FEE-HELP is calculated but does not alter the student’s obligations under HESA.
16. Where a domestic student elects to defer the remaining net tuition fees to FEE-HELP, the student must ensure their payment choice and required FEE-HELP administration steps are completed in accordance with JMC Academy’s procedures by the relevant deadlines (including the census date).
17. International students: This Scholarship is currently only offered to domestic students.
18. The Scholarship does not cover, and the recipient will be liable for:
-
-
- any failed or repeat units of study; and
- any units of study for which advanced standing or RPL credit has been granted.
-
20. The recipient acknowledges that JMC Academy has a variable fees policy and that tuition fees may increase annually; the Scholarship Benefit applies as a 20% reduction to the applicable published fees and does not exempt the student from any fee increases over time
5. Academic progress, conduct and regulatory compliance
21. Recipients must continue to meet JMC Academy’s academic progression requirements and any applicable course progression rules to retain the Scholarship.
22. Recipients must comply with all JMC Academy policies and procedures (including the Student Code of Conduct) and any conditions of enrolment under the Higher Education Standards Framework.
23. The Scholarship does not alter the requirement for JMC Academy to assess and report student enrolment, progression and completion in accordance with TEQSA and HESA obligations.
6. Acceptance and acknowledgement
24. By accepting an Offer of Admission that includes the Diploma of Stage Management Alumni Scholarship, applicants acknowledge and agree to these Terms and Conditions, as well as to JMC Academy’s published policies, and acknowledge that the Scholarship is a Scholarship Benefit rather than a cash payment.
25. Applicants are encouraged to seek independent advice regarding the impact of this Scholarship on any government benefits or personal tax obligations, noting that JMC Academy does not provide financial or tax advice and that obligations under HESA and other legislation remain with the student
