Want to know how to actually put on a gig, a festival, or a panel that goes beyond group chat ideas and into the real world? Why not ask one of our Entertainment Business Management students?

From curating lineups that feel seamless, to chasing down sponsors who believe in the vision, to making sure the crowd leaves buzzing, JMC’s Entertainment Business Management (or EBM for short!) students are already producing the kind of events you’d happily buy tickets to. The kicker? They’re doing it for course credits, with the full backing of JMC’s creative community behind them.

And if you’re reading this, you could be next!  Studying Entertainment Business Management this September is your kickstarter to building the events you want to see IRL.

This Trimester’s highlights include (but aren’t limited to!):

💡 Funding?! — Students created a networking night that connected artists, filmmakers, and funding bodies. The outcome? Creatives walked away with the tools (and confidence and dollar signs!) to finance their next big project.

🌈 Live At The Lot — Picture a carpark transformed into a block party: live local artists, food trucks, and funds raised for LGBTQIA+ youth. An event with impact and energy? Sounds like an entertainment business dream come true.

🎶 Melbourne Unplugged — A stripped-back showcase spotlighting Naarm/Melbourne’s music scene. JMC students mastered artist bookings to promotions from top to tail for the kind of intimate night every music lover craves.

🎨 Paint Ya Mate — Grab a drink, grab a brush, and unleash your inner Picasso while a DJ spins. This is proof that sometimes the weirdest ideas become the most unforgettable nights!

🌙 After Hours — A student-run mini festival designed to spotlight creative peers. Think headline sets, a chill atmosphere, and a night where the community truly came alive.

🎤 This Is Growing Up Fest — A full-blown Y2K throwback with bands, DJs, and multiple stages. JMC students handled logistics, marketing, and crowd energy like seasoned pros (and no-doubt had a little boogie in the meantime!).

So, what exactly were our Entertainment Business students learning throughout all of this?

Not a simulation, our students got stuck into to real nitty gritty of the entertainment industry  by:

  • Building connections that actually stick.
  • Curating lineups that feel right, not random.
  • Pitching, funding, and hustling until the money works.
  • Marketing that cuts through the noise and fills the room.
  • Running the show when the lights go up (and things inevitably go sideways).
  • Keeping it safe, fun, and unforgettable for every punter.

✨ Feel like this is right up your alley? Our September enrollments are currently open to study Entertainment Business Management at JMC!

Don’t dream about an event you wish existed— create it!
