For every teenager who doodles riffs in the margins of their homework, edits late-night video clips until the timing feels perfect, or dreams up stories bigger than their bedroom walls, JMC Academy’s Holiday Workshops offer those ideas a chance to take shape in real studios and creative spaces.

This September–October across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, JMC is throwing open the doors to its studios, sound stages, and design labs to give young creatives the rare opportunity to step straight into industry-level spaces and start making. These workshops aren’t “try before you buy.” They’re the real deal: guided by the same professionals who shape JMC’s creative degrees, fuelled by the same energy that pulses through JMC’s vibrant creative community.

At JMC’s holiday workshops, you’re not sitting on the sidelines; you’re in the middle of it testing out tools, collaborating with other teenagers who get it, and leaving with work that could sit proudly in a future portfolio.

So, it’s really less “school holidays” and more “first step towards your creative future.”

Sydney: A City of Creative Firsts

The Ultimo campus is offering a full spread of opportunities, from Acting and Music Theatre to Animation, Game Design, Audio, Design, Film & TV, Music and Entertainment Business.

You could spend the morning tracking vocals in a professional studio, the afternoon piecing together a sitcom scene on set, or diving into Maya to light and render an animation sequence that looks like it belongs in a game trailer. There’s even a Collaborative Zine Workshop for those who want to explore design, collage, and storytelling in one burst of creative flow.

Melbourne: Where Creativity Meets Culture

Melbourne’s Southbank campus brings its own creative flavour to a similar line-up of creative workshops. Here, JMC’s Acting, Animation, Game Design, Film, Audio, Design, Music Theatre, Music, and Entertainment Business faculties invite teens to experiment in a campus designed for collaboration. We’re talking state-of-the-art production spaces wrapped in the character of South Melbourne’s creative precinct.

You could write and record an original track across two days, rehearse monologues in a professional theatre setting, or sharpen your skills in a Screen Production Project that teaches you how a crew operates under pressure. Each session is as much about the people you’ll meet as it is the skills you’ll build.

Brisbane: Creative Energy in Motion

Up in sunny Queensland, JMC Brisbane’s campus is buzzing with six powerhouse workshops: Acting, Animation & Game Design, Audio, Entertainment Business, Film & TV, and Music.

Standouts include a 2-Day Songwriting & Recording Workshop, where you’ll spend one day writing and the next laying down your track in a professional studio, and the Animation & Game Design Workshop, where you’ll sketch characters, build environments in Unreal Engine, and walk away with polished portfolio pieces. There’s also a Mastering Audio Basics program that drops you right into live sound engineering and home recording.

JMC’s holiday workshops aren’t about filling time, they’re about finding out what lights you up. Here, high school students have the opportunity to meet like-minded peers who share the same pull toward sound, image, story, and stage in a nurturing creative environment. We want students to walk into our creative spaces and feel immediately at home.
