We’ve officially wrapped up our BIGGEST ever JMC Open Days, and what an experience it was! A record number of future creatives, their families, and industry enthusiasts walked through the doors of our Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne campuses over the past two weekends, as they came alive with the energy of JMC’s incredible creative community.

Across all three cities, the energy was unmistakable. From the moment guests arrived, they were met with live music echoing through the halls, buzzing conversations in the studios, and a contagious sense of possibility. JMC’s Open Days have always been more than just a showcase of our state-of-the-art facilities, they’re a celebration of what happens when creativity and community come together. This time around was no exception.

Highlights of the Day

  • Industry Panels: Guests heard directly from industry professionals and JMC alumni who are making their mark in film, music, design, animation and beyond, giving real-world insight into how to turn creative study into a sustainable career. A big thank you to our industry partners across our campuses— Dave Sleswick from The Tivoli Group & Open Season, Ian Becker from Nine Network Australia, Adam Schumack from Placemaking NSW and Jessie Parker from Laneway Festival.
  • Hands-On Workshops: Future filmmakers tested their eye behind the camera, budding audio engineers worked the mixing desk, and game design hopefuls stepped into immersive labs to test student-developed games. For those who thrive on doing rather than just observing, these sessions showed exactly what life as a JMC student could look like: practical, fast-paced, and endlessly creative!
  • Student & Alumni Performances: From intimate acoustic sets to high-energy band performances, live music gave each campus its own unique pulse and reminded everyone of the raw talent within JMC’s creative community. This wasn’t just background entertainment, but a reminder that JMC is a community brimming with talent, where the next great songwriter, producer or performer might be standing right beside you.
  • Campus Tours: Whether it was exploring green screen rooms, theatre spaces, fully equipped recording studios or collaborative student hubs, visitors had the chance to see what studying in a professional creative environment really feels like. Each stop on the tour offered a chance to imagine what day-to-day life as a student feels like, switching between solo creative work, hands-on technical training, and group collaboration.

What We Hope You Take Away

Whether it was the excitement of discovering a course that feels like home, the reassurance of meeting lecturers who genuinely champion their students, or the inspiration of seeing where a JMC degree can take you, we hope that you left with a creative spark, a spring in your step, and an idea of something bigger. To everyone who joined us this August Open Day, thank you for making this our biggest event yet.

JMC’s Open Days have always been about more than just showing what courses and facilities we have on offer. They’re about igniting ideas, building connections, and giving a glimpse of the collaborative, supportive and bold creative culture that sets us apart from other tertiary institutions.
