For the fourth year in a row, JMC Academy proudly stood side-by-side with one of Australia’s most influential music festivals, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, continuing a creative partnership that’s become as electric as the stages themselves. 💥 From students behind the scenes to JMC acts taking the spotlight, Laneway Festival 2026 wasn’t just an event: it was a testament to what happens when training meets opportunity.

🔊 Creativity in Motion: A Collaborative Legacy

Since first joining forces with Laneway Festival in 2023, JMC Academy has helped open doors for emerging creatives across disciplines. It’s a collaboration all about providing real pathways into industry environments where learning jumps off the page and hits the stage.

Students in:

  • Entertainment Business Management helped coordinate festival crews and artist activations;
  • Audio and Live Sound mixed sets that resonated across audiences;
  • Film & TV Production captured ethos-defining moments for broadcast and social content;
  • Animation & Design shaped the visual language seen across screens and assets;
  • …and Music students even took to the Laneway stage themselves.

Across Brisbane (at the Gold Coast event for 2026), Melbourne and Sydney, JMC creators were embedded in every level of the festival experience. Our students helped ensure that Laneway isn’t just another festival, but a global cultural moment.

🌟 Spotlight on Violet Harbour

This year, JMC’s own Sydney-based indie outfit Violet Harbour stepped up to represent JMC on the Laneway Festival stage… and safe to say they absolutely smashed it!

Crafted from dreamy atmospherics, emotive songwriting and a sound that’s as intuitive as it is unforgettable, Violet Harbour brought a fresh energy to Sydney for Laneway Festival 2026. With their debut single landing just as the festival rolled in, their set became not only a performance, but a statement: this is what new Australian music feels like.

Huge congratulations to the band, the student design team who produced the stage’s gorgeous visuals and to all of the JMC students whose work continues to shape the festival experience from front-of-house to behind-the-scenes.

🎶 Celebrating Past & Future Stories

Laneway Festival has always been about pushing the new and the original. And that’s exactly the spirit JMC nurtures every day. Over the years, JMC acts like Ruby Cannon, Worm Girlz, and Maybe in May have taken their moment on the Laneway Festival stage, each one a reminder that great futures are built one opportunity at a time.

These days, we spy past JMC placement students (now alumni!) behind the stages and out in the field continuing to ensure the show goes on. We couldn’t be prouder and can't wait to see what’s in store for the future!
