At JMC Academy, we are incredibly proud that our Sydney Acting students get the opportunity to perform on one of Sydney’s most respected stages — Belvoir St Theatre.

For the past nine years, our education partnership with Belvoir has given graduating Acting students the chance to bring their Graduate Production to life in the iconic Downstairs Theatre, a space renowned for its intimacy, creativity, and cultural significance. Each year, our students reimagine and transform this professional stage, using it as the platform to present bold, original work that signals their transition from emerging artists to professional performers.

The Graduate Production is just one of two major performance opportunities that mark the culmination of the JMC Acting course. Students also take part in their Showcase — a curated series of short performances presented to industry decision-makers, including talent managers, casting agents, and directors. This prestigious event is hosted at the Sydney Opera House, giving our graduates a rare and direct connection to the heart of Australia’s performing arts industry.

These capstone experiences are the result of a course that is designed to be immersive, practical, and industry-connected from day one. Students are mentored by working actors and performance makers, collaborate with fellow creatives across disciplines, and hone their craft in an environment that mirrors the realities of professional performance. By the time they graduate, they’ve already built a portfolio of work, industry contacts, and the confidence to step into their careers.

Sydney Head of Acting, Glen Hamilton, has been instrumental in making this partnership thrive:

"It has been a great honour for me to have worked with the Belvoir team over these last 9 years. Belvoir plays such a significant role in shaping Australia’s theatrical identity, and it is a source of great pride for us to share the space with this outstanding artistic community."

We’re grateful to Belvoir St Theatre for championing the next generation of theatre-makers, and proud of our students for seizing every opportunity to shine.

Here’s to nine years of creativity, collaboration, and storytelling, and to many more ahead.
