The Process of Creating an Animation or Game Major Project: Follow our Story

Bringing a character, story, or game to life involves a broad range of skills at every phase of the journey, from conceptual design and development through to completion. MPLogo300.jpg

Watch and follow the process as Animation and Game Development students create short animated films and video games from ideation to finished product.

@JMCAcademyDesign Instagram will be following the final year students as they embark on their projects. We will be keeping you updated along the way from initial conceptualising, through pitching of ideas, forming and working together in a team, and the long road to creating the final product.

We recently shadowed a student integration class, getting to know the Animation, Game Development and Digital Design students. We had so much fun learning about each phase of the process, and following the journey and story of how they were developing their products, that we decided to follow their major projects too!

“In their major projects students enter an industry-practice based scenario where individuals form small production teams. In the process, they learn skills that are crucial in a team environment: time and production management, task delegation, team communication, problem-solving and delivering to clients. Major Project challenges students to research and develop practical, time-efficient solutions to realise what are often creatively and logistically ambitious ideas. Games and animation creation tools and tasks are complex and demanding and students must work smart if they are to succeed. Part of their duties is to analyse potential opportunities and threats in a project. They are guided to refine their script or design document with the aim of maximising the creative outcome within the practical constraints of time and skillset. This class is an intense but rewarding experience for students and one which will challenge and encourage them to bridge the gap from student to professional technical or creative artist.” – Jason Dobra
