On Wednesday 13 July, JMC Academy was proud to host the first Master of Creative Industries Information Evening on our Melbourne campus and online. The information evening was a great introduction to our new MCI course which allows students to gain a postgraduate qualification while developing their own concept into commercial reality.

The Master of Creative Industries is designed to develop creative ability and business acumen hand in hand, allowing our students to graduate from the course with an edge in the industry. It teaches students to be creative, develop a concept and bring a project to life through rigorous research and mentorship.

MCI lecturer, vocalist and musician, Benjamin Samuel hosted the event, providing key insights into Australia’s sophisticated and diverse cultural sector which contributes 90 billion dollars to the Australian economy annually and employs over 600,000 people with 40% growth in employment each year, “there has never been a better time to join the creative industries”.

The event also featured presentations on current industry trends and insights from JMC Melbourne’s Heads of Departments and lecturers along with a student panel featuring current MCI students Alejandro, Megan, and Alethia and the Head of Postgraduate Studies at JMC, Dr Catherine Gough-Brady, speaking about the course and the incredible student experience at JMC. Attendees also had the opportunity to experience our current MCI students’ exciting work through the mediums of music videos, audio and short film with additional live entertainment on the night from JMC International students Alethia and Sebastian.
