Mickey Pye will bring his country rock from Oberon to Riverstone Schofields Memorial Club on Sunday, October 15.
Raised on the sounds of Slim Dusty and Elvis Presley and now an accomplished guitarist, singer and songwriter in his own right, Pye is now delivering his own style of country that has been branded high-energy, ex- plosive country rock.
At seven he learned to play the guitar and piano, and by the age of 10 he was joining local bands on stage, sitting in on bass, guitar or singing. Drawing an influence from Australian pub rock bands, he began writing country music with a backbeat reflecting this.
After graduating from the College of Country Music in 2009, he was offered a full scholarship to study Popular Music and Performance at the JMC Academy.
He teamed up with lecturer, producer and drummer Clinton Ham to form the Mickey Pye Band. They are becoming one of the most popular country bands in the industry.
