So you’ve enrolled to your course and are raring to start, but what can you do in the mean time to prepare for your next exciting journey?
We’ve put together a checklist of things you could be doing now so you’re ready for your first day here at JMC Academy to start the rest of your creative career path!
1. Join relevant JMC Academy Facebook Groups.
Email your SRA’s (Student recruitment advisors) to make sure they join you to the New Students group for the campus you are enrolled at. These groups are made specifically for you to meet new people and keep up to date on events and start dates etc!
2. Research the campus
Find out where the good coffee and lunch spots are, and how to get to and from JMC on public transport. Preparation is key! Especially when it comes to coffee.
3. Stock up on Stationary
Everyone’s guilty pleasure- stationary shopping! Grab yourself cool multi coloured pens, a diary and all the books you need to get you through the trimester and help with your learning. And doodling.
4. Learn more about your industry
Keep up to date with industry websites and articles, social media and journals so you will have a starting base when you start. We regularly post helpful industry advice so check out our news articles.
It’s always a good idea to build your CV with work experience so get a head start and volunteer for anything industry relevant in your spare time.
6. Start gathering inspiration
Write down your ideas so you go in with some sustenance - even if you don’t use them, it can be a great starting point!
7. Information Sessions
JMC Academy holds regular information sessions
in case you have any more questions you want to ask before you start, including scholarship information sessions to find out how to get your degree for free. Yes, for free.
8. Follow JMC Academy
We regularly post helpful articles for students about studying and the industry in general. It’s also a great way to check out current student work and what’s going on! Head over and follow us on Facebook
