Glenn Ferguson
Head of Department (Sydney)

Master of Recording Arts, Macquarie University
AVID Certified Pro Tools Instructor (HD11)

Glenn has recorded a variety of acts from rock bands to jazz artists; Welsh choirs to brass bands. He also has extensive location recording experience including gigs at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney Town Hall, Newcastle Town Hall, Enmore Theatre and Cessnock Town Hall to name a few. Personally inspired by Rick Rubin, Glenn encourages his students to develop their own unique ‘sound’ to ensure they establish a competitive, sustainable career in the industry. Glenn commenced lecturing at JMC Academy in 1996 and has held the position of Department Head since 2006. This experience, coupled with 20 years of industry experience and academic accomplishment has made Glenn a master specialist in his field. Having worked in a variety of recording situations, from world class SSL equipped studios, to temporary setups in farmhouses, schools and garages, Glenn has built a broad repertoire of skills. 


Nick Franklin
Audio Lecturer

Bachelor of Creative Technology (Audio Engineering + Sound Production), JMC Academy

Nick is a music producer and recording engineer that owns and operates Rolodex Sound in Sydney, Aus. Nick's career in audio engineering and sound production began working under industry veteran mastering engineer Rick O'Neil at the southern hemisphere's largest mastering studio Turtlerock Mastering.

Nick then went on to become house engineer at Linear Recording where he worked with artists such as Peking Duk, Daniel Johns (Silverchair), Miley Cyrus, Client Liaison and Deep Sea Arcade.

Nick now produces, mixes and masters in a freelance capacity and develops emerging artists and bands.


Chris Doherty
Audio Lecturer

Formerly an in-house Engineer at Sydney's Studios 301, Chris has worked closely with clients from a diverse field ranging from local musicians to high profile international touring acts. Tom Hogan
Audio Lecturer

Masters of Music (Creative Audio Production), Sydney Conservatorium of Music

Tom Hogan is a composer and sound artist, writing and performing music for theatre, film and dance around Australia. His recent theatre and installation designs include You'll Be Sorry When I'm Dead for Tarryn Gill (2014), The Mesh for Arthur Productions (2014), Cough for Unhappen (2014), The Westlands for True West (2013), Small & Tired for Belvoir (2013) and many more.

Tom mysteriously moonlights as performance poet Scott Sandwich. He created the ongoing online project 'Obscure Music History'. and his performance and film works have been featured nationally, as well as in galleries in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Benin and Lithuania.


Dan Bodnarcuk
Head of Department, Melbourne

Bachelor of Creative Industries (Audio Engineering and Sound Production)
Diploma of Secondary Teacher (Technology & Vocation Education and Training)

A musician, composer and sound engineer, Daniel is the owner and operator of boutique record label, Singplay. Daniels ongoing body of work includes compositions, performances and engineered material for local and international release, featured on iTunes, Radio and Film. Daniel’s teaching philosophy is centered on establishing a bond between Education and Industry. Daniel is an AMEB trained musician, holding a degree in Audio Engineering and Sound Production, and is currently studying his Masters of Education.

David Lauritsen
Audio Department 2IC

"David is both an audio engineer and a musician, notably performing at the Big Day Out in 2014, and authoring The Handbook for the Serious Guitarist, which is available to read at all JMC Libraries!

David early career as an audio engineer involved freelancing at various music studios around Melbourne before falling in love with location recording and post production audio for Film and Television, working on 80 short films in the first 2 years as well as documentaries, advertisements, TV series and feature films.

Toni Lozanovski
Audio Lecturer

Bachelor of Music in Audio Production, Victoria University of Technology

Toni has been involved with music since his early teens, playing guitar in various bands from rock, metal and acoustic folk. Since graduating in 2006 Toni has produced and released music under various artists’ names, has been signed to Ministry Of Sound Australia, and is currently signed to Vicious Recordings. He has remixed tracks for such artist as Avicii, Sebastian Drums, The Potbelleez, P-Money, Sidney, Samson, Jurgen Paape, Enur, Peyton, Sesa, Milk & Sugar, Dirty Vegas and many more.

Stephan Malliate
National Facilities + Assets Manager

"Stephan is the Facilities Manager and Studio Lecturer for the JMC Academy in Melbourne since 2009.

Stephan has been an Audio Engineer & Producer for over 15 years, having worked in different areas of the music industry including studio production, live shows and radio. As a Producer, he has worked for a few Australian artists such as Jason Heerah and Conchita Heneberry on “The Voice"/

Stephan also produces electronic music with his younger brother Jordan under the alias of Stephan Jordan  and they released music on various labels internationally and locally such as CR2 Records , Vinyl Pusher , AtomicSky Records. 


Dan Spirovski
Head of Department, Brisbane

Daniel Spirovski is an accomplished music producer working with bands and solo artists across many genres for the last 15 years. He is an educator in the fields of music technology, music production and songwriting and is also a multi-instrumentalist on saxophone, bass and keyboards who has been in the music industry for close to 20 years playing in originals outfits from funk, rock to hip-hop and has also performed extensively in corporate bands.


Seth Jackson
Audio Lecturer

Seth has lectured at JMC Academy since 2008. He is a freelance film producer, audio engineer, and the co-owner and director of Soul Sound Design, which provides comprehensive sound production services for screen media and games.

As a freelancer, Seth provides education in Music Technology as well as  services in live sound, mobile and in-house studio recording, sound design, composition, arrangement, filmscore, mixing, mastering and session musician.

Bruce Colledge
Audio Lecturer

Graduate Diploma of Music Technology (Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University)

Bruce began his technical life at AWA in Brisbane, moving later to Telecom, and then establishing Audio Art, and has now been designing analogue and digital technology for over 30 years. His portfolio of work includes contract design for Boeing, ASC and Telstra, and associated design with audio based companies including AMEK, Quested, Perreaux, Yamaha, and the Harman Group of companies. 

His bespoke technical designs include speakers, amplifiers, sound effects, lighting control, and digital control systems. He is the inventor of the “VODEX” digital voice indexing system for the print handicapped, and the “TOAD” effects device for musicians.

As an acoustician, Bruce has made acoustic assessments of sound recording facilities such as EMI's Abbey Road and AIR Lyndhurst Hall in the UK, and has designed acoustic spaces for music, multi-media, and games development studios. 

Bruce has also has over three decades experience as a musician, from intimate house concerts to the large stages of the “Summer Festivals” circuit of the USA. He composes music both as an independent and as part of a collaborative team. 

Currently, as well as sharing his experience with the new generation of creative and technically minded students, Bruce is engaged in developing new presentation technologies for tourism and museums.

Dan Sugars
Audio Lecturer

Dan has been involved in the Creative Industries since 2004, turning his childhood passion for music performance into a rewarding and diverse professional career.

He is a professional music producer, sound engineer and composer, and spends most of his time producing music for game developers and recording artists. He also plays drums for the rock band Go Van Go.
Some of his recent work has achieved nominations for various songwriting awards, national radio play and international licensing contracts.

Craig Parry
Audio Lecturer

Craig Parry is a composer, performer, sound designer, audio engineer and music technology educator. Craig has been composing and performing professionally for 15 years as is the founder of the Music Tech Academy.

Craig has made the move over to JMC after lecturing at Griffith University and has instructed across multiple topics including Electroacoustic Ensemble, Digital Music Composition and Creative Encounters With Music Technology. Craig has vast experience on educating students in a wide range of Music Technology applications including composition, live performance techniques, synthesis, recording & engineering, digital instrument design and film scoring.



The in-depth practical work gave me an edge in the real world. Lecturers are knowledgeable and experienced with a real passion for the subject matter, making learning much easier.

Aldo Sampaio - Audio Director, Ubisoft (Montreal), Audio Engineering & Sound Production Alumni

Liam Clifford

Founder of audio company, Howlaround Productions, Liam became Tour Manager and FOH Engineer for Multi-Platinum and Award-Winning Artist, Sheppard. Following a successful world tour, Liam re-located to LA and has grown his company (now Howlaround Entertainment Group) to include offices in Sydney and LA and spans across 5 continents.


Bartholomew Heeren

Since graduating, Bartholomew has focussed on audio mastering, primarily working with artists from Portland and Los Angeles from 2017 onward. He has mastered over 150 projects in the area of experimental, noise and outsider music, and is committed to assisting students and beginning artists in taking the next step to releasing their music professionally. He has also worked on podcasting, most notably the show 'Australian True Crime with Meshel Laurie and Emily Webb' from 2018 to 2019. Bartholomew also works as an audio/visual technician in Melbourne, where he specialises in audio operation and show craft. Outside of work, he is currently studying a master’s in communication and hopes to progress attaining a Doctorate in the field of Political Communication. His greatest loves in life are Dachshunds, Japanese food and the writings of Cormac McCarthy.

Jan Halsvik

After graduation, Jan moved back to Norway and before long, was hired by Norwegian artist, Sigrid. Since working with Sigrid, as her sound engineer, Jan has travelled the world doing shows including SXSW, Glastonbury and Coachella along with TV shows including the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and the Graham Norton Show.
