Last night, the state government made the decision to reinstate stage three lockdown for six weeks for metropolitan Melbourne from midnight tonight in response to the high level of community transmission of COVID-19.
At JMC Academy, we are concerned about the impact that this might have on our students and have reviewed all of our on-campus practical activities. These activities will be minimised and only involve small numbers of students in the Audio, Music and Film and Television courses. Your Heads of Department will be in contact shortly to outline these activities and precautions to minimise risk. And please...if you are not comfortable being on campus, please stay at home and we will make other arrangements.
We strongly request that no student attend should they be feeling unwell, or have respiratory symptoms (runny nose, cough, sneezing, sore throat) or other related symptoms (headache, fever, nausea).
We have very robust hygiene and social distancing practices. We have infrared thermometers, hand sanitiser and face masks available. A deep clean is carried out each weekend and equipment that is used by students is cleaned regularly or on return.
We also understand that the recent situation may cause anxiety and stress. Our Senior Management team comprised of our CEO George Markakis and our Founder John Martin Cass are working with the campus team to support students and staff. I would like to remind you all about our counselling service and a 24/7 help service called 'Talk Campus'. Details can be found on Plato in the 'Student Support' section.
