Why following your passion is the best thing you can do

Following your passion can change your life from suffering in a mundane 9-5 job you hate to feeling like every daypassion.jpg is full of possibility.

Following you passion doesn’t always have to be a hobby. You could be passionate about Management, Maths, Music, Web Development, pretty much anything. What we are trying to say, is to make sure you study and essentially find a career in something you enjoy, not something you THINK you should get a job in for financial reasons or because that’s what your parents do, and this is why…

9-5 can make for a long day.

Working Monday to Friday 9-5 in a job you hate can be mentally draining. Many people who choose careers that don’t make them happy will often tell you that they would all do it differently if they had the chance. Working takes up a lot more of your life than you would like. 5 out of 7 days every week you work, so why spend the majority of your life doing something you hate? What a silly way to waste your life.

They say ‘If you are passionate about your job, you will never have to work a day in your life’.  Doing a job you don’t care about not only makes the work harder, but makes your days seem longer.  You may think that it’s not practical to pursue your passion as it may not neccesarily lead straight to a career. However, it’s always practical to nurture and develop your passion because it’s tapping into your authentic self and growing that part of you. Don’t settle for a career that undermines your talents, skills, values and beliefs.

You will be more successful.

When you can relate more to the work, you will be more willing to put forward your ideas and work harder to create something great. When you really enjoy what you do, nothing will stop you from being successful. Your passion ignites your work and helps you push past boundaries, which, if you didn’t care about your job, you would just give up on.  If you take the time to pursue your passion, what you’re essentially doing is developing your skills and gifts—this leads to expertise.  Who doesn’t want to be an expert in something?

You will work harder

By working in a job you enjoy, you will work more in your spare time reading around the subject you enjoy and practising your skill, which will translate to creating better work day to day. Sometimes in jobs you have to work later hours and go above and beyond, which could feel like a complete drag if you would rather not be there. Wouldn’t it be easier to work longer on something you can relate to and enjoy rather than something you can’t stand doing?
