Fresh from co-writing the new Jimmy Barnes album, Berklee College composer and musician Mark Simos will be conducting a song-writing seminar at creative industries college, JMC Academy, in Melbourne this weekend.
His '360 songwriting philosophy' will be incorporated into the seminar, teaching attendees how to create crafted lyrics, melodic twists, harmony and phrasing that can adapt to trends in the ever changing world of music. Simos has an impressive resume covering songs recorded by Americana super-group Alison Krauss and Union Station, and more than 100 song and instrumental cuts with artists including
Del McCoury, the Infamous Stringdusters, Laurie Lewis, and Doyle Lawson.
"Mark Simos is the fourth professor from Berklee College of Music who we’ve welcomed to teach seminars at JMC Academy this year," said George Markakis, CEO of JMC Academy.
"Exposing JMC students and the music community at large to new perspectives and styles of creating, writing and producing music is fundamental to fostering the next generation of Australian music talent."
