SCHLOGGER FEBRUARY 2014

Schlogger_vol5_Feb14.jpgHola, HallĂ„, Hello and happy new year! After a long and relaxing break filled with festivities, it’s finally time to return to real life; to the lectures and the assessments but also the fun too. To be perfectly honest, I’ve actually been dying to come back. But I guess I’ve always been that type of person.

I thought I’d spend my time this schlog to discuss coming back to JMC and to give those first timers some hints about what it takes to start off on the right foot.

When I first started my Entertainment Business Management course, naturally it was pretty nervy, especially coming into a city where I didn’t really know anyone. However I quickly learnt that pretty much everyone here is on the same wavelength in either music, film or games or a cool mix of all 3, so making friends was the last thing I should’ve worried about.

Instead, here are some realistic things to think about for the first day:
- Bring pens. Don’t be that person that has to ask everyone for a pen on the first day, because it will stick. Trust me, I know.
- Prepare a cool story about yourself. When you’re going to your first few classes, the lecturers will always ask you to introduce yourself with something unique, so make sure you are that really interesting one.
- Just have fun. Naturally you have to focus on the studies and working hard, but it’s just as important to have a great time while you’re doing it. That’s why you’re doing such a cool course remember!

This trimester I’ve got my second integration unit, which involves setting up a gig night for the muso’s or filming a music video with the FTV guys. So I’m building up for probably the most fun time of the whole degree. To say I’m keen is a complete understatement.

For those starting off at JMC, I can’t wait to meet you and hope you have the most amazing time. Good luck, work hard and party harder!

Until next time,
Josh
