Films to look out for in 2016

As you know, we love our films here at JMC Academy and we're excited for all the upcoming films in 2016.

So we've put together a list of the films we are getting ready to buy our tickets to...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

How can you go wrong with 2 of the best superheros taking each other on? Here the world has started to fear the powers of god-like hero’s. The stage is set for Gotham City's own formidable, and forceful vigilante to take on Metropolis' most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. As Batman and Superman wage war against each other, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before… standby for one action packed super hero-off!

Doctor Strange (2016)

Another Marvel superhero is coming to our screens in 2016, although lesser- known. Vincent Strange, a brilliant but arrogant surgeon, gets a new lease of life when a sorcerer takes him under his wing and trains him to defend the world against evil.

Deadpool (2016)

Marvel is really throwing out the superhero films this year. Based on their most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the original story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016)

More Sci –fi more adventure as 2016 continues. The Divergent series hits our screens again as Beatrice Prior and Tobias Eaton venture into the world outside of the fence and are taken into protective custody by a mysterious agency known as the Bureau of Genetic Welfare. This will be interesting as many people complained that the thirs book of the series went quickly down hill, so let's see how the film works the plot...

Captain America: Civil War (2016)

The next instalment of the avengers story sees an incident leading to an altercation which quickly escalates into an open fight between allies Iron Man and Captain America. Expect epic visuals, endless fight scenes and as always, witty one-liners!

This years sequels to keep an eye out for...

Finding Dory (2016) The friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish reunites with her loved ones, and everyone learns a few things about the true meaning of family along the way.

Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) We always knew they were coming back …eventually! Independence day redefined the event movie genre, who knows what this film will bring.

Point Break - Not quite a sequel but a remake, inspired by the classic 1991 hit of the same name.  A young FBI agent infiltrates an extraordinary team of extreme sports athletes he suspects of masterminding a string of unprecedented, sophisticated corporate heists.

The Jungle Book (2016) – technically not a sequel either but this darker version of the beloved story looks very intriguing.

Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) New director but our favourite Johnny Deep remains, as Alice returns to the whimsical world of Wonderland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter.

Oh and another X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)  - how many is that now? I think this is number 8 including the Wolverine tail off stories. But that doesn't matter because we love them all.

A few more for your diary...

London Has Fallen (2016) – during the Prime Minister's funeral, a plot to assassinate all the attending world leaders is discovered –chaos ensues

Snowden (2016) - If you don’t know what this film is based on then it’s clearly not for you

The 5th Wave (2016) – More apocalyptic goodness!  Four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Who will survive the 5th and how?

The Revenant (2016) – could this be Leonardo Di Caprio’s year? Epic story based on true events capturing a man’s desire to survive and the extraordinary power of the human spirit.

The Angry Birds Movie (2016) – perhaps leave this one out of your diary.

There are many expecting the return of some classic stories, myself being one of them- if the rumours are true we could be seeing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016), Underworld: Next Generation (2016), Now You See Me 2 (2016) and maybe even a new Star Wars movie - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story next year!
2016 looks set to be another exciting year for film. The big productions are once again dominated by Sci-Fi and fantasy tales with a few fans favourites thrown in for good measure. A couple of horrors in the form of The Boy (2016), The Forest (2016) and Amityville: The Awakening (2016) keeps the cinema experience exciting and the introduction of some intriguing plots and star studded casts means I will once again be stuffing my face with popcorn in uncomfortable seats on many occasions next year!
