Moorabbin singer Ruby Rose McLellan has music in her blood.
Born into a musical family, McLellan said becoming a singer was a "logical progression" and after dabbling in solo work, she now fronts band Tropical Gordon, which recently debut its first single, Howl
McLellan and band members Adam Roderick, Tom Cockray and Josh Hoff, all studying at Melbourne's JMC Academy, met two years ago at a party.
"It was one of those great late night ideas: let's start a band," McLellan said.
The band quickly developed its self-described "quirky alternative pop" style and starting playing gigs tirelessly around Melbourne. "Our music is a bit morbid and a little bit tongue-in-cheek" McLellan said.
"It's simplistic but with sophisticated content."
