Brisbane January High School Workshops

We will be holding introductory workshops during the January 2017 school holidays in our Brisbane Campus. Get your tickets today! These workshops fill very quickly.

The workshops are a great opportunity to check out the JMC Academy campus while getting a taste of what studying your passion with Australia's leading Creative Industries provider is like.

Each workshop costs $20 + booking fee for the day (lunch included). Places are strictly limited so make sure you register and pay online now to secure your spot.

These workshops are strictly for 15-18 year old high school students.

JANUARY 2017

Maya & Mudbox Workshop

Monday 16th January 2017
10:00am - 2:00pm

The Autodesk workshops will focus on character creation and animation. In the first session students will be introduced to digital sculpting in Autodesk Mudbox and be guided through the process of designing and sculpting characters for animation and games. In the second session students will be introduced to Autodesk Maya and shown how a refined digital sculpt can be animated and brought to life in this industry standard animation software suite.
Bring a USB thumb drive to save your work at the end of the session. 



 


Ableton Live Workshop 

Monday 16th January 2017
10:00am - 2:00pm

In this practical workshop students will be introduced to sound recording and engineering. This will provide them with an understanding of music production, mixing and mastering techniques in a professional recording studio setting.
Please bring headphones with you on the day.



Animation and Game Development Workshop

Tuesday 17th January 2017
10:00am - 2:00pm

This practical workshop, designed specifically for high school students, aims to introduce students to various applications within the Animation and Gaming industries. Students will learn basic texturing and modelling using Photoshop and Maya, and be introduced to the Unity Game Engine. Students' models will then be incorporated into a playable 3D game environment.


 

Pro Tools Workshop

Tuesday 17th January 2017
10:00am - 2:00pm

This practical workshop aims to introduce high school students to the system of Pro Tools. The workshop will introduce students to a Digital Audio Workstation environment, and will assist students in developing their editing and mastering skills with music and sound.
Please bring headphones with you on the day.



 

Music, Audio, and Entertainment Business Workshop

Thursday 19th January 2017
10:00am - 2:00pm
This practical workshop aims to introduce students to all facets of the music industry including Contemporary Music Performance, Sound Production and Artist & Event Management. Students will gain a genuine understanding of the components that make up Australia’s music industry, with an opportunity to perform live and record in our studios where they will learn basic knowledge of recording and mixing techniques.
Musicians are welcome to bring along their own instruments, and please bring along your own headphones.


 

Film and Television Workshop

Friday 20th January 2017
10:00am - 2:00pm
This introductory workshop aims to provide students with an introduction to Film and TV studio recording processes. Students will gain practical skills using multi camera operation and the control room, and will have an opportunity to work on an in-house TV production.
